As the new year is well underway I would like to formally introduce myself.  My name is Greg Brousse and I have been elected to serve as Lodge Chief for the 2012 calendar year.  I am very enthusiastic for this year.  Chilantakoba Lodge has a long history of cheerfulness, service, and brotherhood to which our order is dedicated.  The New Year is the perfect opportunity to embrace these values and to reaffirm your promise and dedication to the order.
Last year ended on a positive note with a successful lodge banquet.  Apeli chapter hosted the 2011 Lodge Banquet on January 14th at St. Maria Goretti Church.  Over 60 members and guests attended the evening of fun and fellowship.  During the banquet, the Lodge recognized two individuals for their outstanding service to the lodge by presenting them with the Founder’s Award.  The 2011 Founder’s Award recipients were Gary Dolese and Jeffrey Prado.
There are several exciting events coming up in 2012 that no Arrowman should miss.  The first is the Section 1-A Conclave (April 20-22) at Camp Attakapas.  This event will be a weekend filled with shows, fellowship, competitions, trainings, and a founder’s festival.  More information about this event will be available in the coming weeks.
The next event is the Spring Ordeal.  This year’s ordeal will be held May 4-6 at Salmen Scout Reservation.  You can register online at or at the Council Service Center.  Chapters will be conducting elections throughout the coming months.  To schedule an election, contact your chapter chief or myself.
Summer is just around the corner and so is NOAC 2012.  More than 8,000 Arrowmen will travel to East Lansing, Michigan, home to the 2012 National Order of the Arrow Conference at Michigan State University.  Arrowmen will participate in a 6-day conference focusing on top-notch training sessions, cool recreational opportunities, attending evening shows full of theatrics and special effects, and checking out the exciting programs NOAC has to offer.  NOAC will be held from July 30 through August 4th, 2012.  Don’t miss this exciting opportunity!  More information about NOAC 2012 will be made available in the coming weeks.
Finally, I ask that you please check that your 2012 dues are paid.  Although the Order of the Arrow has switched to the Journey to Excellence program, our lodge still has to meet a membership requirement.  If you have not already paid your 2012 dues, please do so by logging onto or by paying at the Council Service Center.  I look forward to a great year of fellowship, service, and fun!

Yours in Service,
Greg Brousse
